Now is your time to embrace the southern portion of Tuscany that has been luring travellers to bask in its beauty for centuries. We depart from your hotel in Florence, in a comfortable new model air-conditioned van where we can enjoy a majestic, 360-degree view of the surrounding hills, vineyards and olive yards. Depending on your tastes and budget your driver guide will take you to the best-hidden, local establishments.
We will drive you to Montepulciano, which is located in the renown Valdorcia. Montepulciano is famous for its renaissance center and its wine “Vino Nobile” and you will have time for a stroll in the magical atmosphere and enjoy some shopping for local products. We will be glad to reserve a visit to a historic winery inside the city walls where you will enjoy a wine tasting. We will take you to the ancient underground cellars, dug into the tuffo, under the town. The size of the main cellar, divided into three naves and supported by imposing pillars is reminiscent of a Gothic cathedral! With guidance you will understand the territory and methods used in the production of Vino Nobile.
Next, you will drive through the hills of Val d’Orcia and you will have the opportunity to take beautiful pictures of the panoramic countryside as you head towards Pienza. Pienza is famous for its original medieval and Renaissance beauty and architecture and is also known for it's wonderfully flavourful sheep cheese, commonly known as pecorino. We will be glad to reserve a table for you with a splendid view of Monte Amiata and Val d’Orcia in a very good Tuscan “Trattoria".
In the afternoon, we will drive to Montalcino area about 20 minutes from Pienza through more beautiful countryside roads full of olive groves and vineyards. We will head for a visit to a well-rated boutique winery that produces a very good Brunello produced in the area. The first rule is that red Brunello is made with 100% Sangiovese Grosso. The best Sangiovese in the world, due to a particular microclimate and to minimum 5 years of aging before it is realized. On this stop you will enjoy a wine tasting, tour of the cellar and of the vineyard. During the trip, your driver will also give you advice about tastings and the history and characteristics of our wines.
