DRIVER GUIDED TOURS
Duration
8 hours from 09:00 AM
Meeting point
Hotel Lobby or Apartment street level
You will start out at 9am from the lobby of your centrally located hotel with our driver guide who will pick you up in a comfortable late model air-conditioned van and head through the countryside. The first stop, Lucca, enclosed in its 16th century walls, is a delightful town with surprises around every corner. From the traditional local tasty pastries to the open Piazza dell'Anfiteatro where a Roman Amphitheater once stood. Make your way through the small streets lined with medieval buildings and towers that now house fashion boutiques and jewelry shops. You will not want to miss the Basilica of San Frediano where you can view the Ascension Mosaic from the XIII century. The city`s charm is on display during a walk or bike ride on the tree-lined immense 16th century walls.
Depending on your tastes and budget your driver guide will take you to a well-hidden, local establishment for a typical lunch. Generally clients enjoy a lunch at a typical Tuscan trattoria in the area of Lucca. Following lunch, we will make our way to Pisa. Here you have the chance to explore the surrounding area of Pisa and have time for photos and perhaps a climb of the tower itself if arranged with advance reservation. The visit to Pisa includes the Piazza dei Miracoli where you can admire the city`s Romanesque architecture of the Cathedral, Baptistery and the Leaning Bell Tower. These buildings laid out on the sprawling green lawns are the most beautiful and important examples of Tuscan Romanesque architecture in all of the history of art.
The countryside in this area is beautiful and along way we can tailor the stops during the day based on your interests and what is possible. We can also include a stop or two for a cappuccino or gelato. The length of this tour is 8 hours and your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel following the tour.
