What You'll do in this tour
We highly recommend the walking tour option in Florence with our local guide since Florence is best visited on foot. You will save precious time by taking this 4 hour tour to learn about the highlights of the city, including a few important churches, and of course, Michelangelo and his works inside of the Accademia.
Michelangelo, Donatello, Giotto, Dante and Boccaccio are just some of the many famous people to come from or live in the city of Florence. Called the Athens of the Middles Ages, Florence was founded in the 1st Century B.C. If you have never been to Florence this is the short tour is the perfect tour introduction to experience the major historical and artistic sites of the city. Michelangelo’s David, the Cathedral of Brunelleschi, Tower of Giotto, the beautiful Signoria Square, the Ponte Vecchio and the leather market can be visited during your time with your walking guide. Take an ethereal visit to the Church of Santa Croce (Basilica of the Holy Cross) to visit tombs where some of the most illustrious citizens of Florence such as Michelangelo Buonarroti, Niccolo Macchiavelli, Galileo Galilei, Ghiberti and Alfieri are buried. Florence is truly a museum without walls so there is plenty to explore. In case your tour lands on a Monday, we will be happy to use the extra time fully to visit other city sites.
Additional Information to Note:
- This tour starts from your hotel lobby unless we tell you that you will have a meeting point in the center of Florence. The alternate meeting pooint if assigned is (In front of Hotel Savoy at Piazza della Repubblica, 7, 50123 Firenze). If you will be arriving by train and without luggage, we can also arrange to meet you at your arrival train platform into SMN station.
- Approximate tour time is 4 hours.
- We can break up the tour with a quick coffee or gelato break if you like. Be sure to let your walking guide know if you prefer your tour to be done this way.
- Time will not be sufficient to tour the Uffizi Gallery on this tour unless you only visit that particular museum with the guide and a few city sites or just the museums of Uffizi and Accademia but no city sites..If your intention is to see the Uffizi Gallery plus other city sites or Accademia then please let us know that this as we need to make the appropriate reservations for your party.
- Because you have chosen the walking tour it will be assumed that you will want to see the David at the Accademia and so we will automatically make a reservation for you unless you tell us otherwise immediately upon booking.
- Some other sights may have a small admission fee that can be paid on the spot and this varies based on individual interests. Tickets cannot be purchased with credit cards.
- Please note that the museums are closed on Mondays and the Duomo is closed for the early part of the day on Sunday.
- Please note that the museums are free every first Sunday of the month so skip the line will not be possible and lines can be very long.
- We do not climb the dome during this tour, but it is worth exploring on your own if interested.
- Headsets, admission fees, lunches and gratuities are not included in the price of the tour.
- Please note it is prohibited to bring backpacks, camping or other bulky bags or luggage / trollies. You are allowed to enter with medium and small size backpacks carried on a shoulder which must be checked by metal detectors and/or opened and visually inspected before entering.
Accademia Ticket Information:
- Miles&Miles will make a reservation for your tickets and they are to be paid upon entry.
- You will skip the general admission lines with this reservation, but you will still need to go through security upon entry and this cannot be skipped by anyone, for any reason.
- Admission Prices:
- 20 Euros per adult 18+ (includes reservation fee)
- 4.00 Euros per youth 0-17 (only pay the reservation fee)
- The cost of tickets is included in the final voucher
- Cost of tickets are non refundable
